HIATUS
Monday, November 24, 2008 // 9:03 AM
One night at the circus is going on, what I hope to be, a short hiatus. My laptop has been acting wonky lately, and until I get it fixed I have no access to the net. So until then, keep an eye out here to see what's going on.

Favourite Summer Trend Carried Into Fall/Winter: The Maxi Dress
Friday, November 21, 2008 // 4:33 PM
I was so over joyed when I first saw celebs wearing the maxi dress a few months back, it made for a refreshing change from the skinny jeans, short dresses, and skirts. It also seemed to fit my personal style to a 'T'. It was chic enough for a night out, but casual enough for running errands or shopping; I was in love. What further sold me on the maxi dress was the price- for about 100 dollars you could get the celeb friendly Gypsy 05 Maxi dress, which bonus, was also eco friendly, and came in an abundance of colours; my favourites being the teal and white. Sadly I never got around to buying one over the summer as I spent much of my money on new bags and shoes, BUT I decided to try and revamp the look for a chic Florida fall look.

My choice of dress is this
one from Gypsy 05 in white, but you could also use any of these (
1,
2,
3,
4) from Victoria's Secret, or even these (
1,
2,
3) also from Gypsy 05.
For a nice casual daytime look I prefer leather flip-flops, such as
these from Reef, Abercrombie also has a cute pair that you can find
here. If you prefer the classic rubber flip-flop I would suggest Havianas available at
Nordstroms or Old Navy's
brand.

Since you are dressing for autumn, I like the idea of tossing on a cute leather jacket like
this one from ASOS; luckily ASOS has a wide variety of leather jackets ranging from their own brand to some of the top designers. If none of those suit your fancy, I would suggest
this one from TopShop.

As for jewelry, I would suggest something simple, that compliments your outfit, such as
this from Ice.com, if you would prefer a necklace, I think
this one would work beautifully with the pieces.

As for a bag, I believe a clutch would work best, something classic, and seasonless, like
this one from Marc by Marc Jacobs, and also
this one by Coach. If you would prefer an over the shoulder bag I would suggest any of these from Dooney (
1,
2,
3), Coach (
1,
2,
3), and also
this from CC Skye.
Grand Total: $1810 apx with shipping, $360 without the bag or earrings.
The above look could also work for a very casual night out, all you would have to do is trade your flip-flops for a simple pair of black flats like these.
As for a dressier night out, where you want to impress people, or need to fit into a certain style, I would suggest the following outfit.

For a glitzy, night out on the town or I would suggest this beautiful
Issa Maxi dress from Harrods, in my opinion it's dressy enough for just about anything, and casual enough to make you feel comfortable in your own skin.

For shoes I think a beautiful silver heel would work beautifully with this dress, something like
this from Lumiani. If you're a little more daring you could try
this gorgeous black pair of Christian Louboutin. For girls of height, I think a great pair dressy flats would look great, since the maxi dress is meant to reach completely to the floor. Something
like these would be dressy enough for just about anything.

Like with the last outfit, I think a nice clutch would be perfect, and wouldn't suggest using a shoulder bag at all. My favourite clutch that would go well with both the dress and the shoes is
this by Jimmy Choo, although it is white I feel it would compliment the outfit well. I also like
this by Laura Bohinc; whilst Harrod's website suggests
this by Kotur.

I stand by my earlier statement of when it comes to jewelry with a maxi dress less is more, specially with a dress with such a beautiful print. I personally think a gorgeous right hand diamond ring and a simple pair of earrings would look killer, specially if you wore your hair in a simple Chignon. For earrings, I think
these would look really beautiful, they're by Tiffany's who, in my opinion makes some of the most beautiful jewelry, you could also use any of these (
1,
2,
3,
4,
5,
6).

As for a ring, I'm also going to go with Tiffany's because as you can see their jewelry is breath taking (that could be just the prices though). For rings I like
this one, I think it's stunning, but in the real world, on a college student budget there is no way I could shell out almost $14,000 on a ring, but since this is just a basic guide for fun, I'm going to use it. Other rings I like are these (
1,
2,
3,
4,
5).
Grand Total: $20,900
I would just like to take a moment to say that by no means do I think you need to spend almost $21,000 dollars to look beautiful, the second half, and even parts of the first were for fun. I do not expect anyone to look at these items and go 'I think I'll just take my parents' amex and go on a shopping spree at Tiffany's.' Once again, this guide set was only for fun.

Jewelry: The Etsy edition
Thursday, November 20, 2008 // 5:37 PM
I am a big fan of the website Etsy simply because it has beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry by unknown artists, most of which is at a very reasonable price for what it is and the quality of the pieces. To be fair, you have to wade through a lot of tacky stuff to find a true gem, but it's well worth the time and energy. These are some of my personal favourites:

This ring trio when worn stacked is a size 6.5, but when you wear the rings alone they're a size 7. I love this style simply because it give you four great looks for one low price, I think that at $212 it's an amazing deal.

This set is actually my favourite of the two, it's by the same artist, and is a size 8. I really love the colour of the stones, in my opinion they'd be great for an easter party or spring in general, and for those of you with a social conscience- both sets of rings are actually vegan. What makes this set better than the last set is the price- at $178 they're a steal!

This cute little guy is suprisingly solid silver, is on an 18 inch silver chain. I think what's so alluring about him is the fact that he's a throw back to our childhood days of watching Bambi, and at $140, he'd make any Disney girl's day.

Usually I shy away from simple wire based products, I tend to find them too flimsy, and delicate, but there is something about this peace pendant, that is eye-catching. I may be the tree hugger in me, but I find it really cute, and I could honestly think of a million outfits that could feature this in it, and that alone makes it worth the $20 dollars, sadly the necklace is not included.
To find these pieces and more go to Etsy.

Lauren Conrad: Leaving Whole Foods in LA
// 3:32 PM

I will be the first one to admit that in my eyes Lauren Conrad can do no wrong... most of the time; and this is one of those times I think she looks fabulous. I absolutely love her casual summer look (yes, I am well aware that it is almost December!), the only thing I'd probably change is the shoes, but even those are liveable. In my mind Miss Conrad is quickly becoming a fashion icon for her age group, and all I can say to the lady is, keep up the good work hun. Luckily this is a fairly simple outfit to recreate, needing only 3 key pieces, the dress, the shoes, and the bag.
Dress : Lauren Moshi's Peace Girl Swing Tank, very adorable.
Bag :
This is also a nice, simular bag, if you would like to rent the exact bag, you can do so
here.
Shoes : I think any really good leather sandal would look really good with this outfit, so feel free to pair it with whatever fashionable shoe you like.
Grand Total: $291

Emma Watson: Montaigne ave, Paris
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 // 8:10 PM
For some reason in the last year or so I've been in love with almost all of Miss Watson's fashion choices, and this one is no different. I think the casualness of this makes it accessable by just about anyone, although the only thing I'd get rid of is the black vest thing. Really Emma what is the need of having a sweater, a tee shirt, AND a sweater vest on in September?! With that said, this one is fairly easy to recreate. I'm leaving out the bag and vest because I don't really care for either of them. I prefer Topshop's skinny jeans, so I'll be using them for this match. As for the outfit to your below right, it is the same as the one with the sweater, only, you know... without it.

Sweater : Sweaters I also like that kind of resemble this one are (minus the rips of course) this one from Victoria's Secret, J Crew's Cashmere V-neck sweater.
Jeans : Other jeans I like that would work to recreate this outfit are these Sass & Bide, these J Brand, and these from Asos.
Tee Shirt : I would also suggest these from
American Apparel,
Gap, and
Old Navy. My personal favourite is the one from Old Navy.
Flats : Lanvin's Navy Ballerina Flats (these also come in brown), a second choice for these flats, also by Lanvin, are these also available at Barney's, and Matches, which also come in black. Another version of the Navy Ballerina Flats are these, also available in taupe and black. Also Jcrew has a cute version of the Lanvin flat in the same colours for about a 4th of the price, you can find those here.
Grand Total : $790 with shipping or $660 without the sweater.

Introduction
// 7:33 PM
Hi everyone! I'm Ella and I hail from the city of Orlando, where I'm studying to be a nurse. My true passion though is music and fashion; which is what brings us here. I would describe my fashion as very fresh, girlie, romantic, chic, beach casual. I love to inject British pieces in my everyday wardrobe to give it a global feel, and I live for the one of a kind pieces from Etsy.
The general purpose of this blog is to recreate some of my favourite famous outfits, not from any one famous person, but everyone as long as it's something I really love. The other goal is to show you my shopping hauls, wardrobe, make up and hair ideas and just general fashion tastes. I don't by any means think everyone will like this site, and if everyone did I'd be a bit worried that the world was full of Ellabots, not a pretty thought. Anywhoo- at the left you'll find a list of things including my profile, tagbox (where you can talk to me directly or even some of the other readers), and links, which is a list of some of my favourite online shopping sites, I hope you enjoy them throughly, and feel free to submit some of your own.
Until next time,
Ella
